For Indian students, APS requirements, university eligibility and the application route can materially affect the timeline. Start early and coordinate admission and visa planning rather than treating them as separate tasks.

Many public universities do not charge tuition for Bachelor's and most Master's programmes, but “tuition-free” is not universal. Baden-Württemberg charges €1,500 per semester for many non-EU students, and some Bavarian institutions may charge fees. Private universities can also charge substantial tuition.
It is a separate student-services/student-government contribution paid at enrolment and each semester. DAAD reports a typical range of about €70–€430 depending on the institution and location.
The current Make it in Germany study-visa guidance lists at least €11,904 in a blocked account in 2026, or other accepted proof such as a scholarship or declaration of commitment.
APS India states that the APS certificate is generally required as part of the German student-visa documentation for applicants with Indian academic qualifications, subject to the applicable procedure.
Not necessarily. English-taught programmes exist, especially at Master's level, while many Bachelor's programmes are German-taught. The university determines the language requirement for the chosen programme.
uni-assist evaluates applications for participating German universities. It does not make the admission decision; the university does. Not every university or programme uses uni-assist.

Graduates can generally obtain a residence permit for job-seeking for up to 18 months, subject to the applicable requirements.
Family reunification can be possible but depends on the residence status and individual circumstances. It must be assessed separately from the student's study visa.
It is a residence title for qualifying highly skilled employment. For qualifying holders, settlement can generally be reached after 27 months with A1 German or 21 months with B1, subject to the detailed legal conditions.
