Category-Based Draws Open the Door for Lower CRS Profiles
Since 2023, IRCC has run category-based draws that let targeted occupation groups and French speakers compete in their own sub-pool — meaning cutoff scores can be 50–150 points lower than a general draw. If your profile fits a category, your pathway to an ITA may be faster than you think.
Nurses, physicians, allied health workers. Recent cutoff: 223–475 CRS.
Engineers, scientists, IT professionals. Cutoffs vary widely by draw.
Strong French speakers across occupations. Recent cutoff: 400–420 CRS.
Electricians, plumbers, welders & more. Recent cutoff: 430 CRS.
How to Strengthen Your CRS Score

- Apply for a provincial nomination for +600 points

- Gain additional Canadian work experience (CEC pathway)
- Pursue a Canadian degree or diploma for added education points
